IT Consultant / Network Engineer / System Engineer

TREBRON Security is looking for a full-time qualified engineer or technical support person to become an IT Consultant focusing on cybersecurity and other IT projects for our clients. This position works directly with our clients to support their needs, and also supports our internal sales team in discovering issues and opportunities while proposing solutions and services.

The ideal candidate will have strong network fundamentals with the ability to troubleshoot many different types of problems. We are looking for someone who is, at a minimum, familiar with Virtualization (VMware and Hyper-V) and Windows server software (2022, 2019, 2016, 2012 R2). Experience with Exchange, SQL and Linux is a huge plus.

Cybersecurity-specific experience is also a plus, but if experience in that area is limited, then an interest in learning cybersecurity is a must. Projects and troubleshooting may also require configuring or troubleshooting firewalls and network configurations. Assigned tasks will include patching and other routine maintenance tasks.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • 4+ years of experience in Technical Support / Help Desk or higher roles
  • 8+ years of experience for Senior IT consultant position
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, multitask and follow up
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to speak to customers in-person or over the phone
  • Highly self-motivated with an entrepreneurial spirit

A degree or certifications are not required but may count towards experience in some cases. Applicants should also have experience with firewalls, routers, switches and wireless configurations in environments from small business to larger enterprise clients.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide a variety of technology services to our clients as well as working closely with our other technical staff
  • Rely on excellent problem-solving, communication and business skills to provide technology solutions for our clients and fellow team members
  • Meet with clients to evaluate, recommend and implement technology solutions that are responsive to clients’ needs and that align IT work plans and initiatives with business objectives and provide insight into technology trends
  • Assist clients with technology planning and decision-making processes, provide cost/benefit analyses as needed, coordinate IT product and service procurements and manage order fulfillment process
  • Develop and maintain hardware, software and network inventory, diagrams and related documentation
  • Develop and maintain security policies and disaster recovery plans, perform security audits as needed, monitor systems usage and forecast future capacity requirements
  • Provide scheduled, routine visits to support end users, maintain infrastructure, complete work requests and provide additional support as needed
  • Provide unplanned remote and onsite support
  • Install, configure and troubleshoot software and hardware for desktops, peripherals, laptops, mobile devices, networks and servers
  • Manage monthly patch and upgrade process for workstations, servers, operating systems and major applications
  • Maintain close contact and open communications with clients until an issue has been resolved
  • Maintain detailed work logs and technical documentation
  • Recognize and identify areas where existing technology policies and procedures may need to change, or where new ones need to be developed
  • Work closely with the sales team to assist in the sales process with both potential new clients and opportunities to expand existing clients’ products and services

Other areas of technical focus include:

  • Infrastructure upgrades – servers, SANs, switches, OS upgrades
  • Disaster recovery – planning, deployment, and testing
  • Multi-factor authentication
  • Security hardening – GPOs, patching, network segmentation
  • Network troubleshooting
  • Backup system design and deployments
  • SD-WAN / network design
  • Cloud migrations
  • Firewall implementations 

This is a full-time position with a competitive benefit package, including 401(k) and medical/dental/vision, etc. Home office preferred but will provide options for office space in select cities. Compensation is dependent on experience and location.
